Organizing, Moving and Editing Your Photos And Albums

How to Edit Photos and Photo Albums

To remove a photo from Facebook:
  1. Click on the photo to expand it
  2. Click Options on the menu bar below the photo
  3. Select Delete This Photo and click Confirm
Keep in mind that once a photo is deleted, you won't be able to get it back. Also, you can only delete photos that you've uploaded. If you want someone else's photo removed from Facebook, ask the person who posted it to take it down.
You can only delete albums you've created. This means that albums created by other people and albums created automatically (ex: Timeline Photos, Profile Photos and Mobile Uploads) can't be deleted. You can, however, delete photos from the album individually.
To delete an album you've created:
  1. Click the album you want to delete
  2. Click the cog in the top-right
  3. Select Delete
Keep in mind that, once you delete an album, you can not restore it.

Tagging Suggestions

As you take photos, some cameras and camera phones add information about where you are, along with the time and date.
If you click Add Location:
  • The location will be added to the photo.
  • The location and photo will be added to your map.
To learn more about what types of information Facebook receives when you upload photos, please review our Data Use Policy.
Some cameras and camera phones add information to a photo when you take it. This information is called metadata. Metadata includes information about the photo, such as the time, date, and place you took it. We may suggest that you tag your photos with this information when you add them to Facebook.
People will only see information that you choose to share about your photo. If you choose to share the information we suggest (such as where you took the photo), you can choose the audience by using the audience selector. To share the information we suggest, click Yes next to the location and date suggestions.
When someone downloads your photo from Facebook, they won't be able to see any of the photo's metadata. Metadata is information automatically added to a photo when it’s taken. This information is uploaded to Facebook along with some photos.

How to Organize Photos and Photo Albums

To rotate a photo:
  1. Click on the photo
  2. Hover over the photo and click Options (below the photo)
  3. Select Rotate Left or Rotate Right
You can move photos between albums you've created. Some albums are created automatically, like your mobile uploads album. You can't move photos into these albums.
To move photos between albums you've created:
  1. Go to the album the photo is in now
  2. Click Edit at the top of the page
  3. Hover over the photo you want to move and click the arrow in the top right corner
  4. Select Move to other album and move the photo to an album you choose from the dropdown menu

Troubleshooting

If you do not see the Photos application in the Applications menu, type "Photos" into the search box at the top of the page and follow the link that appears. While using the application, you will see the option to bookmark it in the bar at the bottom of the page. You may adjust the order of your bookmarks at any time by dragging them within the Applications menu.
You can also edit the settings for an application from your account settings:
  1. Click  at the top right of any Facebook page
  2. Choose Settings
  3. In the left menu, click Apps
The best way for you to ensure that images are accessible for everyone is to include a caption with your images. The caption will allow you to briefly describe the image and will ensure that people who are unable to see it will have an alternative text description telling them what the photo is of.

Location suggestions let you add photos in albums you've created to your Facebook map, a new feature that's part of your Timeline. We show these suggestions based on the free-form location you entered when you created an album.
If you click Yes next to the suggested location:
  • The location will be added to the photos in the album
  • The location and photos will be added to your map
